Design Process

Building a home with us is truly a luxury experience. Once you make the decision to go with Custom Homes of Texas, we will begin the process of designing your dream home. This process will go through a series of phases.

Phase 1:  Conceptual Plans

This phase starts with an initial architectural design meeting (generally 3-4 hours) where you meet face-to-face with our architect to begin laying out your new home. Our certified architect and our owner (Brandon Bush, who also attended 3 years of architectural design school) will guide you through the process one step at a time. They will listen to your desires and will actually begin drawing the rough sketch of your home right in front of your eyes!!

Phase 2:  Revisions

Once the initial hand-drawn sketch is completed, we will work through a series of revisions in order to refine the initial concept into a computer-generated CAD drawing of your dream home.

Phase 3:  Final Plans

Once you are satisfied that all your needs have been met, we will move to a final set of plans that we will use to actually build your home.

Phase 4:  Selections

Once construction begins, you will start the process of selecting the items you want for the interior and exterior finish out of the home.  This starts with exterior (brick, stone, stucco, roofing, etc.) and continues on throughout the interior (appliances, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures, flooring, paint, tile, etc.). With a custom home, you have the freedom to select a wide range of materials – not just the limited choices at your builder’s design studio.

This process may seem overwhelming, but don’t worry, we are here to help. And we have relationships with many experienced interior designers.  Depending on your design style and personality, we can help match you up with a designer that will be a perfect fit.
